Marie-Jo graduated from the University of Hull in 1989 with a BA in English Language and Literature. She did her teacher training at Lycée de Garçons Esch and Lycée Technique Esch. From 1993 to 1994 she taught at Lycée Technique Ettelbruck. From 1994 to 2001 she taught at Lycée Technique Michel Lucius in Luxembourg. Marie-Jo joined the newly formed team of teachers working on the concept of Lycée Aline Mayrisch, the new secondary school on Campus Geesseknäppchen. Since 2001 she has taught at LAML and has been a member of the Commission Nationale.
Besides school, Marie-Jo has always been interested in the media, more particularly in film reviewing and in radio broadcasting. From 1994 to 2002 she produced and presented various weekly radio shows on RADIO ARA 103,3 FM. From 1997 to 2005 she also presented film reviews for ‘Zinémag’ on RTLëtzebuerg. With her students at LAML she produced radio shows for RADIO ARA’s ‘Schülerradio’. At LAML she produced an English play based on the teenage novel ‘Junk’ by Melwyn Burgess in a version directed by professional actor Tom Leick. The LAML English theatre group is about to be relaunched in the coming school-year.
